Lot 1313

1873-CC $20 Liberty. SEGS graded MS-60. A lustrous and frosty mint example with faint hairlines from light cleaning, plus a noticeable X scratch on the face of Liberty. Our grade is sharpness of MS60 lightly cleaned. A rare coin in this high state of preservation. The 1873-CC double eagle is scarce enough in any grade to make a collector envious of the next owner of this coin. Although 22,410 were struck, this is a very rare date in higher grades, especially above Extremely Fine, hence a double eagle specialist will soon find this date to be quite a challenge if he misses this opportunity to strike before this "CC" gold offering disappears.
Estimated Value $9,000 - 11,000.

Realized $9,775
