(Monroe, Marilyn) - Personal Trunk. Heavy-duty wooden trunk measuring 18 x 12½ x 30 in., with original leather handles, metal locks and metal brackets, as pictured in Adam Victor's book The Marilyn Encyclopedia. The trunk is battered and worn and one bracket is loose. This is the trunk that Marilyn packed in 1961 when she moved out of the Connecticut home she shared with Arthur Miller. Inside the trunk is a sheer, seamed nylon stocking, stitch-marked "60" and bearing a decorative line of pale blue stitching 3½ inches from the top. The stocking was given by Monroe to Marianne Geltner, the cook at Parkside House, Englefield Green, Surrey in 1956 when Marilyn lived there with Miller during filming for The Prince and the Showgirl (1957).
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.
