Donner Party Relic. Small bottle, 2"x5/8", containing wood chips from "the foundation log of the Murphy Cabin of the Donner Party," with attached tag, sworn by C.F. McGlashan before a justice of the peace in 1893. Another small tag gives the price as $1.00 and pledges that all proceeds from the sale of 5,000 relics "shall be devoted to the erection of a monument to the Donner Party." During the winter of 1846-47, the Donner Party, en route to California, was trapped by snow in the Sierra Nevadas and resorted to cannibalism to survive.
Estimated Value $200 - 300.

Realized $230
