Himmler, Heinrich (1900-1945) Leader of the SS and the Gestapo; he swallowed poison after being captured by the British on May 21, 1945. Typed Letter Signed "H. Himmler," 1p, 11¾"x8¼", n.p., 1938 Oct. 5. Fine; file holes and staple mark at left margin, light soiling. To SS-Gruppenführer Dr. Kaltanbrunner, regarding the state visit of Hungarian ambassador Horthy. Himmler says that he is aware of Kaltenbrunner's problems with Deneral Daluege, "Chef der Ordnungspolizei," and asks him to please settle his differences with Daluege. Kaltenbrunner was head of the RSHA after the assassination of Heydrich and had full responsibility for the deportation and extermination of Jews. He was captured at Nurenburg and hanged for crimes against humanity.
