Partly-printed Document, accomplished in manuscript, Signed by members of the Massachusetts Bay Council, including Artemas Ward, Oliver Prescott, Oliver Wendell, Timothy Edwards and others, 1p, 12½"x13¼", Boston, 1779 Jan. 30. Very good; archival fold repairs on verso, light foxing. Large paper seal at upper left. Appointing "Jonathan Grout Esquire…Colonel of the Seventh Regiment of Militia in the County of Worcester ." When the Continental Army was created, Artemas Ward was named Major General, second in command to George Washington.
