Lot 881

1875, $1 National Bank Note. Fr-385. An early First Charter, series of 1875 $1 National Bank Note. At the beginning of the second charter period in 1882, the government ceased producing this (and the $2) denomination since small silver and gold coins had then returned to circulation and were a better substitute; also, the government had begun issuance of $1 and $2 silver certificates backed by massive amounts of new Morgan silver dollars, so there was no need for these two lowest denominations in the national banks. A scarce, if well worn example with clear bank officer signatures. A great rarity, only 5 notes known on the first title of this Lancaster bank. PCGS graded Apparent Very Good 08. Repaired tears.
Estimated Value $200 - 400.

Realized $575
