Roman Empire. Titus, 79-81 AD. AR Denarius, Antioch mint, struck 72 AD. Judaea Capta Related. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, viewed slightly from behind. Reverse: Laureate Titus right, holding branch and standard, in slow quadriga right. RIC 368; RSC 395; Hendin 789. Bold, high relief provincial portrait. Sharp and very lustrous. Choice Extremely Fine.
Estimated Value $500 - 700.
This reverse commemorates the triumphal procession in Rome of Vespasian and Titus, in June 71 AD., for their victories in the Jewish War.
