Roman Empire. Claudius, 41-54 AD. AE Sestertius, Rome mint, struck 41-42 AD. Laureate head right. Reverse: Spes advancing left, lifting up hem, holding out flower with one hand; SPES AVGVSTA, SC. RIC 99; BMCRE 124. Very minor flatness to torso of Spes, otherwise a wonderfully crisp strike on a choice, very round flan. Green-black patina, with some earthen highlights. Extremely Fine.
