Lot 2036

1892 Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 62. Lovely gold, sunset-red and lilac toning on both sides. Pop 53. As with most Proof Morgan Silver dollars, the designs were sharply impressed by the well-made, carefully polished dies. This imparted detail one can only dream about seeing in a more typical business-strike 1892. Proofs totaled 1,245 pieces. This was somewhat in advance of prior and later years, but with the introduction of the new Barber coinage that year, extra collector interest caused the increase in sales. Proofs of 1892, however, are actually no more common than Proofs of 1891 or 1893, and grade-for-grade, bring similar prices realized in auctions (PCGS # 7327) .
Estimated Value $950 - 1,000.

Realized $2,530
