Lot 873

1847-O $5 Liberty. PCGS graded AU-53 PQ. Well struck with all details quite clearly defined. This specimen was struck on a somewhat defective planchet as there are some natural light depressions on the lower neck, between the 1 and 8 of the date, and between the first and second stars at lower left, all as made at the mint. It is nevertheless a superior specimen for this date and mint. Breen-6574, "Prohibitively rare above EF". Low mintage of 12,000 with very few extant for collectors to pursue. Ex-Ashland City Collection. Pop 6, with only 2 higher, both AU-55 (PCGS # 8235) .
Estimated Value $7,000 - 8,000.

Realized $7,763
