1858-C $2.50 Liberty. NGC graded AU-58. A marvelous example of this scarce Charlotte Mint issue. Boldly struck on a problem-free planchet and flashy with considerable mint luster still present. The aesthetically pleasing example that is much scarcer than the NGC population might suggest. Today with grade escalation and resubmissions to the certification services - and submitted, resubmitted and submitted again - the truth is that one coin could well represent a half a dozen or more listings! NGC reports 25 in this grade with 27 rated better (PCGS # 7787) .
