1864 Indian Head Cent. Copper-nickel. PCGS graded Proof 66 P.Q. To call this absolutely spectacular pristine proof example a superb gem proof does not do it justice. This example is as close to perfection as it gets. The coin is well struck with incredibly deep cameo surfaces that are virtually perfect. In a 1st generation holder. PCGS reports 9 in this grade with 2 better in Proof 67. I'd like to see what PCGS calls better as this cataloger would like to match this specimen up against any other copper nickel Indian no matter what date as his candidate for "finest known". Be prepared for some wild bidding on this one! (PCGS # 2265) .
