Lot 3143

Great Britain. Proof bronze Halfpenny, 1874-H. Victoria Bun Head. S-3957. P-1889, listed as Extremely Rare. Prooflike coins from this mint are frequently mistaken for genuine Proofs, but there is no mistaking this beautiful specimen, a Gem with mirror surfaces slightly subdued by very handsome brownish golden toning, full double-struck Proof details including the mintmark, a couple of tiny, tiny ticks in the fields. Coins of this quality make studying the die-work, which is intricate on the Bun Heads, simply a joy. Exquisite! NGC graded Proof 66 Brown.
Estimated Value $850 - 1,000.
The Cheshire Collection.

Realized $805
