Lot 3032

Great Britain. Proof copper Halfpenny, 1853. Victoria Young Head. S-3949. Recut date. Medal-die alignment. Another piece called "BN" but it's about as "brown" as the sun in late afternoon! "Grades" like this make you wonder just exactly who is looking at these coins, for this coin is dazzling, simply "alive" with brilliant mauve and iridescent blue toning, which gleams and screams "Buy Me!" In other words, this is a Superb Proof with its mint-fire subdued in the most alluring way possible. The cataloguer has never seen a finer nor a prettier example of this Proof halfpenny, which surely rates among the very finest of the relatively few known. Maybe Queen Victoria herself saved this little darling! NGC graded Proof 65 Brown.
Estimated Value $400 - 600.
The Cheshire Collection.

Realized $805
