Lot 244

1881 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. A pure white and prooflike example of this low mintage Seated half dollar, 10,975 business strikes produced. Deeply reflective fields contrast a thickly frosted Liberty that appears to be of gem quality. Obverse and reverse quality is matched and the eye appeal of this coin is absolutely stunning. Many would think this specimen was a proof were it not for the faint die file lines in the denticles above ERIC of AMERICA, a diagnostic for this business strike issue. While the 1881 is not nearly as available as the 1879, high grade examples were saved during the time of issue. That said, gem examples are still rare and an example as choice as the present piece is seldom seen. Housed in an old PCGS green label holder (PCGS # 6363) .
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,400.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.

Realized $2,875
