1834 Capped Bust Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. This is indeed a very handsome specimen. It is quite well struck with only the slightest softness on the very highest points. The cap, facial details, the drapery with clasp and the stars are all sharp on the obverse as are 95% of the eagle feathers on the reverse. The semi prooflike surfaces are quite clean and both sides are beautifully toned in lovely old silvery blue and russet shades. Also noted is interesting recutting of the zero of the denomination. The population is 58 in MS-65, though we doubt there could be very many this attractive. . There are in addition 20 in 66 and 4 in 67.
