Lot 209

1794 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. PCGS graded Fine-15. This is the only "common" variety of this date, all others range from extremely scarce to unique. This coin boasts of a nice full strike on an adjustment-free planchet and all attractively toned. This is truly a marvelous problem-free example with a light silvery-grey center obverse surrounded by a ring of darker antique grey, while the reverse exhibits a uniform light silvery-grey. Only 23,464 were coined for the year, and very few are found in high grades, most seen are in grades of Very Good or below. Furthermore, these often are found with damage or other significant problems, not so here, the surfaces are excellent and nearly undiminished by time. We also note that the hair detail is quite strong for the grade assigned (PCGS # 6051) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000.

Realized $10,350
