Russia. Novodel Poltina, 1797-SM FP. Bitkin-H37; GM-Unlisted; Sev-Unlisted; Uzd-Unlisted. 30.5 mm. 10.45 grams. Edge #1. Paul I. Well struck and nicely toned in light silvery gray. This is a novodel of the "heavy poltina" date 1797, but struck to the 1798-1801 standard of weight and diameter. The only other recorded light weight 1797 poltina novodel is a variety of GM-100 which has the initials SM MB and is extremely rare. This specimen with initials SM FTs, is unrecorded in any reference we can find. Excessively Rare, if not unique. PCGS graded MS-63.
