Lot 1087

1882 $20 Liberty. PCGS graded AU-58. An extremely rare date with only 571 pieces made for circulation (along with 59 Proofs). Breen states that apparently the same dies were used for both proof and business strikes. This specimen is well struck with prooflike fields. The tiny contact marks commensurate with the grade seem to provide a "frosty" look. A tiny rim bump is noted at about 12:30 o'clock on the reverse and mentioned for accuracy. Pop 2, with 1 in MS-60 and 2 in MS-61 as the best graded by PCGS. An ever popular date, seldom offered but always in demand.
Estimated Value $55,000 - 65,000.

Realized $60,375
