1889 $10 Liberty. SEGS graded Proof 63 Cameo Obverse Scratch. This proof specimen is sharply struck and bright. In addition to an undulating production lint mark above the bust, we note contact marks and hairlines on both sides, as well as an unfortunate scratch about one inch long along the bottom of the obverse, from the lower left star through the right part of the bust to the second lowest star on the right. 1889 is a key year in the Liberty gold eagle series. A total of only 4,485 business strikes and a miniscule 45 proofs were produced. Very rare.
