Taylor, Ruth (1908-1984) Mack Sennet comedienne best known for nabbing the most sought-after role of 1928: Lorelei Lee in the screen version of Anita Loos' Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Original vintage 16 x 13¼ photograph by Edwin Bower Hesser. Marked on verso: "Artists Proofs / Property of Edwin Bower Hesser / 5942 Hollywood Blvd / Hollywood Calif. / not for Reproduction." The actress is also identified: "Ruth Taylor / featured in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." Silvering around edges; missing lower right corner; faint discoloration on the right side of her nose, and a few minor white flecks. The estimate reflects the blemishes. This photo has been in storage for 40+ years, since Hesser's death.
