Shearer, Norma (1902-1983) "The First Lady of MGM"; married to Irving Thalberg. Original vintage 14 x 11 in.photograph, c. late 1920s, early 1930s, with stamp of photographer Edwin Bower Hesser on verso and manuscript notation, "Norma Shearer # 5 / exclusive." Border has been trimmed, not affecting image, and there are a few tiny blemishes on Miss Shearer's upper left arm. This photo has been in storage for 40+ years, since Hesser's death.
