Griffith, Corinne (1894-1979) Silent film actress; nominated for Best Actress in the 1929 movie The Divine Lady. Original vintage 15½ x 13¼ in. photograph of the "Orchid Lady," c. 1920s, signed in the plate by photographer Edwin Bower Hesser. A luminous chest-up portrait of Griffith, who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1560 Vine Street. In 1938, she wrote the lyrics for the Washington Redskins' fight song, "Hail to the Redskins." The top edge has been trimmed ½ in. and upper left corner has soiling (easily matted out), not affecting the remainder of the photo. This photo has been in storage for 40+ years, since Hesser's death.
