Dean, James. 14 x 11" black and white photo by Sanford H. Roth. A close-up shot of Dean playing the bongos, and obviously very into the music. Handwritten on verso: "Credit Sanford Roth / Rapho-Guillumette." Roth and Dean became friends when Roth was assigned to photograph the filming of Giant. Dean visited the Roths at their home in Los Angeles frequently in the last two months of his life. Roth was following in another car when Dean died in his Porsche on the way to a sports car race in Salinas. As Roth himself died in 1962, original prints of his work are quite rare. This shot was taken at Dean's last home in the San Fernando Valley.
