Buffalo Bill. Stereoview of William F. Cody, "Buffalo Bill," the renowned guide, scout and showman. A Pony Express rider early in his career, he gained the name "Buffalo Bill" for his remarkable abilities with a rifle during buffalo hunts. This steroview, 3 x 6 in., shows Cody in Central Park, New York, mounted on horseback and about to perform a trick shot. No photographer's imprint on the yellow mount; "American Scenery" is printed on each side of the mount, and "1392 Buffalo Bill Mounted" is in the plate at lower left. Break in mount has caused one barely visible crease in the albumen, just to right of center. Very good.
Estimated Value $300 - 400.
