Borglum, Gutzon. Overall toning with edges somewhat darker. Slight creases from being quartered and tiny chip in upper right. Verso contains pencil written notes in Turkish and English. (1867-1941) American sculptor who executed the colossal Mt. Rushmore National Monument.

Typed Letter Signed One page, Octavo, recto/verso, on personal stationery. New York, September 29, 1914. To Miss Isabel F. Dodd, American College for Girls, Constantinople, Turkey. In part:

"… about your Turkish friend and the desire on the part of the girls to raise One Hundred Pounds to procure a bust of your well beloved president, Dr. Patrick, and in reply I wish to say that I will make the bust of Dr[,] Patrick for the above mentioned sum as my wife has got me by the collar in an unsuspecting moment and therefore I must yield to the inevitable… Mr Borglum joins me in very kind regards to all our mutual friends. Our little son is two years and five months old and grows more interesting daily. / Sincerely yours, Gutzon Borglum."
