Montagu, John, Earl of Sandwich (1718-1792) First Lord of the Admiralty for whom the Sandwich Islands, now Hawaii, were originally named. He is best remembered for inventing the sandwich, which allowed him to eat without leaving the gaming tables which were his overwhelming passion.

Document Signed One page, decimo, The Hague, August 11, 1747. In this note he certifies that John James Frolich is living with him. Signed "Sandwich" beside a red wax seal. He was at this time, minister to the Congress at Breda, Holland. Very Good.
