Maximilian (1832-1867) Emperor of Mexico who, with the support of French forces, drove Juarez across the northern frontier, yet had the tables turned on him when France removed their forces. Later condemned and executed.

Document Signed as Emperor. One page, Quarto, Mexico City, August 30, 1866. In it he instructs that Antonio Salcedo be given four hundred pesos to cover his expenses to return to New York. Signed in his bold trademark fashion. Fine.
