Cover is stained at bottom, and bears moderate paper loss at top left. Back cover has a 4-inch tear up the middle from the bottom up. Still the book is very presentable, boldly signed, and beautifully inscribed. Gagarin, Yuri (Alexeyevich). 1934-1968. Russian cosmonaut who, in 1961 became the first man to travel in space, completing a circuit of the Earth in the Vostok spaceship satellite. He shared the Galabert Astronautical Prize with John Glenn in 1963.

Signed Book. "Soviet Person in the Kosmos," Moscow, April, 1961, 128 pages, soft cover, printed in cyrillics, with several photos. Signed by Yuri Gagarin in the same year that he made the first orbit of Earth, dated July 1, 1961. Gagarin has written a poignant inscription: "Having flown around the Earth in the first satellite, I saw how beautiful our planet is, let us not destroy it!" .
