1864 Indian Head Cent. Copper-nickel. PCGS graded Proof 64. Strongly prooflike fields boast rich, brick-red color and sharp, radial luster. A small off-color spot is on the lower chin where a tiny foreign piece of matter attached long ago. Surfaces sparkle with a combination of metal flow lines and satiny texture. There is one darker spot just underneath the I of AMERICA and another underneath the last feather. Only 370 proofs were struck of this date and type. PCGS population of 79 in PR-64, 41 in PR-65, 9 in PR-66 and 2 in PR-67 as finest. Housed in an old PCGS green label holder (PCGS # 2265) .
