Roman Imperatorial Period. Cleopatra & Mark Antony, AR Tetradrachm, and other Early Empire Silvers. The famed silver tetradrachm of Cleopatra VII, thought to be minted in Antioch (c.37-32 B.C.): Crowned and draped bust of Cleopatra right / Head of Mark Antony right. A decent hole-filler, the metal good, with only modest scattered porosity. Some random ancient scratches. Deeply toned. Also, a Cistophorus of Ephesus, 39 BC.: Jugate busts of Antony and Octavia / Dionysius on Cista Mystica ((RPC 2202). Also Denarii of, Antony & Octavian, Denarius (Sear 2000 1504);Augustus, Capricorn Reverse (RIC 541); Vitellius, Clasped hands (RIC 53, Lugdunum), also Concordia (RIC 66); and Vespasian, Double Capricorn (RIC 63). Lastly a Drachm of Caesarea: Claudius / young Nero. Inspection suggested. Coins with a variety of tones and surfaces. The Augustus portrait exquisite. Lot of 8 coins. Coins range from About Fine to Choice Very Fine.
