Superb Gem 1928 MS67 "Star" $20 St. Gaudens. NGC graded MS-67 Star. One of the finest examples to exist for the entire type! A breathtaking, superb gem that is being offered for the first time in 75 years. This specimen was purchased directly from the U.S. Mint in 1928 and has been held privately since that time. Recently submitted to NGC where their graders assigned the grade of MS-67 accompanied by the "star" designation. The obverse of this stunning piece has sunburst surfaces with a finely granular texture. Liberty is coated with velvety luster and has a blond-yellow/lavender appearance at her mid-section. The reverse is a more uniform orange-gold color with relentless luster. There is a small scuff in the left obverse field that has a semi-reflective quality to it. This specimen is the finest graded by NGC for the MS-67 "star" designation, population 1 with none finer! We note that for non "star" specimens there are only 32 examples graded in MS-67 with not a single example known to be finer. A seriously desirable and fresh top-notch gem and we would like to point out this is the finest we have ever seen for this date.
Estimated Value $15,000 - 20,000.
Ex: Eastern Estate.
