Lot 2520

Splendid 1892-CC $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-62. A delightful example of this scarce and popular Carson City double eagle that had a mintage of only 27,265. While any example use to be tough to find in the higher AU and MS grades, a hoard that has been dispersed has made mint state specimens from MS-60 - MS-62 available for the right price. The present piece is unquestionably mint state in condition and very pleasing for the assigned grade. Original surfaces that possess rich radial luster and intact mint frost. The obverse fields have the slightest amount of reflectivity to them and are notably mark free. The only two obverse marks to mention are a short scratch just to the right of star 2 and a small scuff near the rim, left of star 4. This pleasing example is very close to the finest known as PCGS has graded 39 in MS-62 with only 4 in MS-63 as the finest known (PCGS # 9020) .
Estimated Value $7,500 - 8,500.

Realized $11,040
