1906 $10 Gold Liberty. NGC graded Proof 65 Cameo. Intensely reflective fields with a pristine orange-peel effect. Crisp, radial luster. On the reverse, a small depression in the horizontal stripes of the shield is the only mark worth pointing out. The 1906 proof eagle is one of the scarcest proof issues from the early 20th Century. Perhaps only 30 exist in all grades and in gem, it is often many years that pass between the appearance of any example. While many of the proof gold issues from the early 20th Century come with uniformly brilliant surfaces, this specimen displays cameo contrast between the deeply reflective fields and frosted devices of Liberty and the eagle. NGC has graded only 3 in this gem condition with 5 in PR-66 Cameo finer.
