1859-S $2.50 Gold Liberty. NGC graded MS-61. A lustrous and original rarity from San Francisco. Extremely sharp hair detail on Liberty. Soft and satiny luster covers a large portion of the obverse and the entire reverse fields. Identified by a small hairline scratch from the border, left of 1 and up towards middle of neck. The mintmark on the reverse has is blurred and the recessed areas of the S are filled. A rare and undervalued quarter eagle from San Francisco with a mintage of only 15,200. NGC population is 7 in MS-61, 4 in MS-62, 1 in MS-63 and a single MS-65 as the finest.
