1865 Pattern Quarter Dollar. Copper, reeded edge. . Judd-426. Pollock-498. Low Rarity-7. NGC graded Proof 66 Brown. A vivid magenta Liberty surrounded by coppery fields. Luster radiates outwards from the center of the obverse, reaching the peripheries. A small, curved lint mark is present between stars 6 and 7. A top example of this transitional pattern, dated 1865 but struck with a reverse possessing the motto "In God We Trust"on a scroll above eagle. Fantastic eye appeal and toned with violet, yellow and olive hues. NGC population of 2 with none finer. 8th Edition Pattern Book value in PR-65BN of $6,750.
