Lot 1192

1807 Capped Bust Half Dollar. Large stars, 50 over 20. . Overton-112, Rarity-1. PCGS graded AU-53. Vibrant golden toning in the peripheral margins of the obverse and reverse. Predominantly white and lustrous with patches of wear seen on the face, neck and drapery. The reverse has a combination of strike weakness and technical wear. A small planchet defect in the shape of a light bulb is found on the cap. The reverse die is quickly identified by 5 of 50 being punched over a 2. We note that within all of the lettering of LIBERTY are small, raised horizontal bars. A pleasing example and one with interesting die characteristics. PCGS population of 17 in AU-53 with 52 finer (PCGS # 6086) .
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,500.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.
