Lot 1181

1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. PCGS graded Fine-12. A very solid circulated example of an interesting Flowing Hair half dollar variety. Immediately identifiable by the die break lump between the 5 and star 15. Additionally, amongst stars 12-15 are more wavy raised die lumps. On the reverse, one notices the undertype of E underneath the A of STATES. This is a result of the word STATES being incorrectly cut into the die at first as the word STETES. Clean antique gray surfaces that possess hairlines but lack any long scratches or nicks. On the reverse, there are a few adjustment marks at the lower portion of the eagle's body. Housed in an old PCGS green label holder (PCGS # 6052) .
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,500.

Realized $1,668
