Walt Disney Studios - First Hiring Manual. 1938 employment manual outlining the Studio's principal departments and explaining its employment policies. It gives a history of Walt Disney Studios, which was established in 1924 and notes that "The release of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' [1937] marks the beginning of a new era in animation," and that "Television, although in its infancy, opens up a vast field of entertainment." The manual goes into painstaking detail about the duties and goals of an animator, and states that starting salaries range from eighteen to thirty dollars a week, depending on the artist's ability to produce. There are many illustrations: Snow White and various dwarfs, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, and other Disney characters. Light toning; some wear to paper covers, else very good.
Estimated Value $500 - 750.
