Lot 4520

(Kennedy Assassination). A rare 11 x 14 in. black and white photograph of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, her pink suit and legs stained with the blood of her husband, opening the door to a U.S. Navy ambulance containing President Kennedy's body at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Robert Kennedy stands by her side. The First Lady insisted on wearing her stained clothes for the entire day, even during Lyndon Johnson's swearing-in and the trip back to Washington, D.C. She stated: "I want them to see what they did to my husband…." Presumably a wire photo. This very dramatic photo was never widely released or published. Very good.
Estimated Value $400 - 600.
