(Eisenhower, Dwight D.). Inaugural medal by "J.J." with a head and shoulders bust of President Eisenhower, engraved on verso: "For David Marx From His Devoted Friend Dwight D. Eisenhower / 1956." Housed in a wooden 4 x 4 inch frame that stands on a 1 x 5½ x 2¼ inch pedestal; a plaque on the front of the pedestal holds a small Presidential Seal and the text: "Original White House Material / Removed In 1950." Extensive renovations were made to the White House in 1950; some of the wood was saved and this frame was made from part of that wood. David Marx was co-founder of Louis Marx & Co. and a very close friend of Eisenhower's. This medal was a token of the President's appreciation. Some age wear to the medal, else fine.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.
