Almonte, Juan Nepomuceno (1803-1869) Mexican general, son of José María Morelos, "Father of Mexican Independence"; secretary-advisor to Santa Anna; Minister to the USA and Great Britain; member of Maximilian's Executive Council. Manuscript Document Signed as Minister of War and of the Navy, Mexico City, December 2, 1839, 1 page. To Sr. D. Francisco Lombardo, President of the Military Board, regarding a request for some ordinances in the archives of the Ministry of War. Some penciled, official notes at top, else fine. Almonte's signature is very large and bold. Archivally matted with two images to an overall size of 33 x 14½ inches.
