Liberty Seated Dollar. 1861. PCGS graded Proof 64. An enchanting example of one of only 1,000 proofs struck at a time that our country was descending into the beginning of the dark Civil War Period. Coins started to disappear from circulation as the Civil War progressed and the public hoarded what "good" money they could get their hands on. Thus survivors are scarce and this near-gem piece is desirable and choice. Subtle darker grey toning surrounds a brighter and frosty Liberty. These gray tones quickly shift to magenta, champagne and gun-metal blue as this coin is turned. Radial luster exists from the periphery halfway into the fields. The reverse deserves the same applause and one will be impressed by its' lack of any marks. Identified by a small lintmark at the top of O in ONE. PCGS has graded 19 in PR64 with 6 in PR65 and a single PR67 as the finest (PCGS # 7004) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,500.

Realized $5,003
