Lot 2224

Byzantine Empire. Heraclius, 610-641 AD. Gold Solidus (4.30 g), Constantinople mint, struck 616-630 AD. Facing busts of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine, with simple crowns; small cross above. Reverse: Cross potent on three steps; I in right field. Cf. SBC 739. Lustrous fields. The weight is that seen on the earlier light weight solidi of 23 siliquae. Perhaps coin clipped, but edges look intact to this cataloger. Worth looking into. Extremely Fine.
Estimated Value $300 - 375.
