Sicily, Syracuse. Time of Dionysius I, c. 405-400 BC. Gold 20 Litrae. Head of youthful Herakles left, wearing lion's skin; ethnic at left. Reverse: Quartered incuse square, head of Arethusa left in central circular incuse; letter of ethnic in each quarter. SNG ANS 353, 355 (obverse only). Splendid Herakles portrait, showing slight doubling and some minor knocks on the lion skin. With faint reddish toning. Good Choice Very Fine.
