Lot 199

Indian Head Cent. 1864. Copper-nickel. PCGS graded Proof 65 PQ! Fantastic! An unbelievable gem specimen from a scant mintage of 150 pieces at Philadelphia. Light red coloration evenly on both obverse and reverse with crisp luster across the fields and shifting satiny luster on the mark free devices.Fully reflective fields with stunning rainbow toning on the borders extending to the letters. Magenta toning exists in the reverse borders. We mention 2 tiny pin prick spots near the M of AMERICA in an effort to find some flaw so our readers do not think we have made this coin up. Most likely the finest specimen we have ever handled! PCGS has graded 41 in this condition and only 11 finer. This is definetely one of the Finest! (PCGS # 2265) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 2,750.

Realized $2,760
