Cilicia, Tarsos. Datames, as Satrap, 384-362 BC. AR Stater (10.52 g), struck 378-372 BC. Baaltars enthroned right, head facing, holds grain ear and grape cluster, with thymiaterion behind, and holds scepter in other hand; all within crenellated border. Reverse: The god Ana, nude, at left, faces Datames at right and gestures with raised hand; between them thymiaterion; all within schematic shrine, crenellated at top. SNG Cop. 302; SNG von Aulock 5948-9. Weakness at Baal's face, otherwise sharp and lustrous, on excellent metal. The reverse simply stunning, and in the best style! Toned. Extremely Fine / Superb.
