Sicily. Syracuse, c. 466-460 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.52 g). Charioteer in walking quadriga right, holding kentron in right hand, reins with left; Nike flying above right and crowning horses; in exergue, ketos right. Reverse: Head of Arethusa right, with pearl diadem, surrounded by four dolphins swimming clockwise; ethnic around. SNG ANS 128. On usual tight flan, but nicely centered. Obverse crisp, but the reverse very sharp. Lovely, delicate late archaic portrait, attractively toned. Extremely Fine.
