Sicily. Gela, c. 440-430 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.04 g). Charioteer in slow quadriga right, Nike flying right with wreath to crown horses; barley grain in exergue. Reverse: Forepart of man-headed bull right, with beaded truncation; retrograde ethnic above. Cf. SNG ANS 71 (same obverse die). Good metal. Even old collection toning. Appealing, almost primitive style to the bull. Fine-Very Fine.
