Phoenicia. Sidon, late 5th-early 4th century BC. AR Half Shekel or Didrachm (6.29g). Galley left in front of fortress with four towers; in exergue, two lions bounding outwards. Reverse: Persian king standing right, preparing to slay lion, all in shallow incuse square. SNG Cop 192. The reverse quite porous; a rare and important type. Very Fine / Fine.

This issue provides the models for many Persian Period Jewish coins.
